Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the closest airport to St. Helena?

Recommended airports due to ease of travel and rental car access are Sacramento (SMF), and Oakland (OAK). Please visit our travel section for more information about visiting Napa Valley.

What about flying with my bike?

We have partnered with Bike Flights and Beeline Bikes. Please find all details here to make your bike shipping smooth and worry-free.

What hotels are offering CampoVelo special rates or incentives?

Our primary partner hotels are Calistoga Motor Lodge, The Wydown, Rancho Caymus and Los Alcobas. Please mention CampoVelo when making reservations in order to receive your special event rate. Visit our travel page for more information.

Where do Cyclists & Guests check-in?

Cyclists are able to check-in Friday, from 9am to 4pm at Clif Family Winery, 709 Main Street St. Helena. Saturday check-in is also 7am to 4pm, located at Von Strasser Winery 965 Silverado Trail N, Calistoga, CA 94515. Sunday-only Pass-holders, will check-in at the Charles Krug Winery, 2800 Main St, St Helena.

Can someone else pick up my musette gift bag for me?

For security reasons and to sign our event waiver, every participant must be present at packet pickup on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Along with waiver, you will be given wristbands, lunch and drink tickets for our Saturday events.

What’s the weather like in April?

April mornings can be brisk. That means layers are in order. The good news is that at our longer Sunday rides we will have Gear-checks at all of our Refuel Stations and we will deliver your extra clothes back to the finish at Charles Krug Winery.

On the weekend rides, do you provide a bag drop at the ride start?

Yes, you can check in bags. Please do not leave any valuables in your bag, as CampoVelo is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. You can drop off the bag before the start and pick it up afterwards.

Helmets! Headphones! E-Bikes! Hybrids!

Helmets are required on all of our rides. Headphones are not allowed at any of our weekend rides. E-bikes are allowed for SATURDAY RIDES ONLY. While we love, Hybrids, your best bet for CampoVelo is a Road bike (except on Saturday if you signed up for the Mountain Bike Ride).

Where will I be able to get a Mountain Bike? (I am traveling with my Road Bike only). And can I rent a Road Bike?

Rentals bikes are available at our Giant retail partner, The Hub, in Napa. Please contact them at (707) 253-2453. Additionally, Napa Valley Velo, St. Helena Cyclery and The Calistoga Bike Shop also offer rentals.

On Sunday, how many Rest Stops will there be on the course?

This depends upon which ride you sign up for: the Foodie Ride, the Fitness Ride, or the Fuel-burner Ride. The 80 mile route has 4 stops, the 50 mile route has 3 stops and the 30 mile route has 1 stop. For our course support – mobile mechanic and medical support will be on all 3 routes.

Do all the routes start and finish at the same location?

All Saturday rides start and finish at Von Strasser Winery, 965 Silverado Trail North, Calistoga, except the Mountain Bike ride which is TBD. All Sunday rides start and finish at Charles Krug Winery, 2800 Main St, St Helena.

Are there mechanics on the course?

We highly encourage all participants to know basic safety and repair skills, including fixing a flat tire. Be prepared and bring your own pump and extra tubes for your bike. However, if you are still unable to make the repair, neutral support cars will be following all ride routes and can assist you with any minor mechanical issue you may have. Please know we have Bike Marshals, Moto support, VeloFix and VeloMed with us on the course. Help is all around!

What is the Saturday night at the Calistoga Speedway Event?

Our Speedway event is an evening of merriment as guests are invited to participate in our relay races and other bike activities around the track. (Think Breaking Away). Relay races in teams of 4 are on the docket. Food Trucks, beer, wine, live music and more will be part of the festivities. The public can purchase tickets for $25. If you have a weekend pass (2 or 3 day) you don’t need to purchase a separate ticket. Those with a one-day pass for Saturday also have this included. If you purchased a one-day pass for Sunday you will NEED to purchase a separate ticket if you want to attend this special Saturday Night event.

What if am unable to join CampoVelo? Can I get a refund or do a transfer to another rider?

Unfortunately, we cannot refund your money after you have registered for the event. If you cannot attend, you may request that your musette gift bag be mailed to you after the event by contacting us at You are able to transfer your Pass. A $25 transfer fee may apply.
