Posted: March 29th, 2017
Cycling is a sport that rewards those who log time on the bike. There’s no getting around it, if you want to ride faster, you need to ride more. For 99% of people who ride bikes for the enjoyment and health, increasing your fitness is one way to enhance your experience in the saddle. By spending more hours in the saddle, your body will adapt and your endurance will build. Once you have a solid base of training miles in your legs, introducing some intensity (intervals, group rides, etc.) will help bring speed to your legs. There are dozens of different methodologies, training plans, and analytical training tools, but the easiest and least expensive way to ride faster is to ride more. By riding more, you will learn to listen to your body’s needs. Proper fueling and hydration will enhance your ability to not only increase the speed of your rides, but the distances you can cover at that faster pace as well.
